Dr. Ian J. Henderson
Dr. Henderson is a native “Townie” born and raised in St. John’s, Newfoundland. He has been providing Optometric care to Newfoundlanders since the summer of 1989 after completing his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo. Early 1990, he opened his independent optometric practice in Churchill Square. His practice has been built on compassionate care and word of mouth.
Dr. Amy Oldford
Dr. Oldford is a native Newfoundlander who was raised in Grand Falls –Windsor. She completed her undergrad degree at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick before embarking on her Doctor of Optometry Degree from the University of Waterloo which she completed in 2007. Dr. Oldford enjoys all aspects of family Optometry and has a significant paediatric following.
Dr. Rhonda Witte
Dr. Witte (pronounced “wit-ee”) is a native of Kamloops, BC who married a Newfoundlander, the rest is history. Dr. Witte graduated with her Doctor of Optometry Degree in 2004 from the University of Waterloo. Prior to Optometry School she completed both a Masters and a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Alberta. She has been working part-time in our clinic since 2012.

Janice grew up in Melrose, Trinity Bay, NL. She started working in our clinic in 1998 after completing the Office Administration program at the College of the North Atlantic in St. John’s. She subsequently completed the Optometric Assistance Course through the Canadian Association of Optometrists and gained her accreditation as a Certified Canadian Optometric Assistant (CCOA).
Maureen, a native of Gander, NL started working in our clinic in 1999 after gaining experience in other Optometric offices. Maureen, a Certified Canadian Optometric Assistant with the Canadian Association of Optometrists, has a flair for style and eyeglass frames that is second to none. Come by and see the latest styles that she and Janice have ordered in.
Betty, a native of QuidiVidi, NL, joined our clinic in 2007 after returning to NL from Kitchener, ON where she worked for many years at an Optometric practice. She is a Certified Canadian Optometric Assistant who provides the primary role in our pretest area.
Mary, Front Desk
Mary, a proud native of St. Shott’s, NL, is our front desk. She joined our clinic in 2009 after raising two girls. Mary has completed the first module of the Canadian Association of Optometrists Optometric assistant’s course.
Krissy, Front Desk
Krissy, a native of Calgary, Alberta joined our clinic in 2013 after the expansion to our new location found us in need of another hand to provide service to our patients. Krissy is enthusiastically working towards making a career as an Optometric Assistant. She has currently finished the first module of the Canadian Association of Optometrists Optometric assistant’s course. She is looking forward to enrolling in the complete course and becoming a CCOA.
